US Lacrosse Membership
Our league requires every player to be current member of US Lacrosse. You must have a player membership. If you have a coach or referee membership, this is not enough. You must add the player membership in order to be legally covered as a player. This membership covers the cost of liability insurance with is required by any field we rent or tournament that we participate. If you are invovled in an incident that results in the team (or league, field host, etc) being sued, and you are not a US Lacrosse member, it will result in bad things for everyone involved, so make sure you take care of this.
You can lookup your US Lacrosse membership to see if you are current at this link:
https://secure.uslacrosse.org/m.cfm
If you need to enroll or renew your membership, use this link:
https://secure.uslacrosse.org/default.cfm?fuse_action=NewMem
You will need your member number and the expiration date to complete the Palo Alto team member registration module, so have it handy.
Team Membership & Dues
There are some fairly large expenses that the team incurs and we rely on membership dues to pay for them. Our biggest costs are fields and league dues. We are always looking for ways to reduce the cost of membership through fund raisers and sponsorships. Any help you can provide in this area is welcome.
Two membership levels:
- Practice Members Allows you to participate1 in all regular season practices and post-game and other team parties/events.
There are two payment options:
- $140 at time of registration
- or -
- $50 at time of registration,
+ 3 monthly payments of $35 ($155 total)
- Game Members Includes practice membership plus you are eligible2 to play in all regular season games.
There are two payment options:
- $215 at time of registration
- or -
- $80 at time of registration,
+ 3 monthly payments of $50 ($230 total)
(Monthly payments will be paid on March 1, April 1 & May 1)
Paid members also receive additional off-season benefits that might include free or reduced cost of participation in tournaments or summer/fall ball pickup games.
An online registration module will be available on our team website soon (around Feb 1st). You will be required to be a paid member of either level to participate in practices after Feb 1st, unless it is your first practice of the season (everyone gets one freebie).
Uniform
Dues were reduced from their original levels from last year by $35 for practice membership, and by $60 for game membership to help compensate for the initial cost of uniforms for practice and games. We hope this will result in more players being able to meet the financial requirements to participate with the club.
Reversible Practice Jersey
All members, practice and game, must purchase a team practice jersey and are required to wear them to all practices and some scrimmages & tournaments. This reversible will be used for many many years to come. We have a few in stock for $30 or you can buy one in our online store by Boathouse for $40. The store will be live on or about Feb 1st.
Game Uniforms
Game members will also have to purchase a game jersey and shorts. This uniform will be used at least for the next 4 years. The uniform cost will be around $40 each (about $80 total). This will also be available for purchase on the Boathouse online store.
Samples of the above items are available at practice for you to check the sizes so you know what size to buy when the store goes live.
Helmets
You are responsible for own helmet. Get any brand you like, but get a black helmet with a yellow visor and chin piece. We're not super-strict about this, but if you getting a helmet anyways, and you plan to play for us for a few years, get a black one. We will provide Duck decals that you must use (apply them sticks forward). Ask for a pair of decals at practice.
League & Games
We participate in the Northern California Lacrosse Association (NCLA). For 2012, there are 7 teams in two divisions:
Division A
- Barbary Coast
- Marin
- Olympic Club
|
Division B
- Palo Alto
- Presidio
- Streets of London
- Team Clif
|
We play all the teams in our own Division B twice and the teams in Division A only once for a total of 11 games. At least 5 of the games will be played at home on our practice field at Palo Alto High School. We play 1 game in Sacramento (Streets of London), 1 game in Sonoma and the rest of the games in Sausalito. We will provide an online spreadsheet for you to update your intended game attendance status for each game so that we can plan the roster accordingly.
All of this information is available online on our team website - www.paloaltolacrosse.com. If you have any questions about any of this, please feel free to ask.
Cheers,
Palo Alto Lacrosse Club Board

Practice players will occasionally be asked to sit out on some exercises or drills when there is a specific objective for the upcoming game.
-
Being a game member does not guarantee you playing time. A roster of around 20 to 25 starters will be selected for each game. Those that are not on the roster are welcome to dress and attend the game but are expected to remain on the bench until the acting team leader opens the game up to all game members. Our objective is to win and we must utilize the players we believe will give us the greatest chance of winning.
